14 years ago as a freshman in college, I signed up with the reason to legalize weed.
At the time, one of the biggest talking factors was the possible tax obligation revenue.
Federal governments appear to constantly need even more money.
Enforcement and incarceration are pricey.
And legislators saw weed as easy $$$.
And supporters saw a way in.
However there’s 5 fundamental troubles to legalizing for tax advantages:
- Profits comes to be the objective (not accessibility, or clinical assistance, or social equity, etc)
- Activities are required to shield the goal (not the individuals, consumers, victims)
- Markets favor profits over all else (even more taxes, even more $$ needed to survive)
- Present Versions overestimate possible taxes (tax $$ declines with costs)

It’s not that cannabis will not generate tax obligation earnings.
